Cynthia Cantleberry Fundraiser

Cynthia Cantleberry  "Green & White Night"
Silent Auction on May 6th

In January of this year, Cynthia (Cynnie) Cantleberry of Paso Robles  was involved in a life threatening accident involving a horse. The results of the accident has required significant hospital stays and numerous surgeries. The great news is Cynnie is healing and anxious to return to the show pen, the bad news is the seriousness of her injuries and the state of the art medical treatment has resulted in significant medical costs. As a way of showing support for Cynnie, friends are presenting “The Cynthia Cantleberry Crisis Fund, Green and White Night” which will include a Silent Auction, food, fun and friendship on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Paso Robles Event Center in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo County Quarter Horse Mother’s Day Circuit.

The event will be held in the MD Barn, next to the covered arena and will begin at 5:30pm.

Important meeting for SLO County Equestrians

From Bob Perrault, Grover Beach City Manager

Hello-
My name is Bob Perrault, City Manager for the City of Grover Beach, and I am also an equestrian in my spare time.
As you may have heard, the City of Grover Beach is partnering with the State of California Parks Department and Pacifica Hotels from San Diego to construct a Lodge and Conference Center on property located adjacent to West Grand Avenue on State Park property. Specifically, the project would be located on property currently used by equestrians as a staging area for accessing the beach. The project is in the planning phase, and one of the contractual requirements of the project is that the equestrian staging area be relocated.

I would like to invite you to a meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers here at City Hall, 154 South 8thStreet, Grover Beach. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the concept of potentially moving the staging area to the south side of West Grand Avenue, in a safe location immediately adjacent to the Dunes Trail trailhead.  Not only are we interested in discussing this potential spot, but we would also like to consider amenities that you think should be included. Representatives of the City, the State and Pacifica Hotels will be on hand to discuss your interests and concerns.

We would like to get the word out to as many other interested parties as possible, so we encourage you pass this information along to other local equestrians.

Please feel free to contact me in advance of the meeting if you desire further information or have questions. I can be reached at (805) 473-4567. Thank you and we hope to see you at the meeting on Wednesday, April 14th.
Sincerely,

Bob Perrault
City Manager

Trail Ride at Montaña de Oro

From Greg and Mary Bettencourt of Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers:

Please join a group of trail users from all over the state on a special ride/ride/hike at MdO on April 24.

As you may know the annual California Trails and Greenways Conference is being held in Cambria on April 21-23.
CCCMB, SLOPOST and State Parks are very involved with the conference.  We are doing everything we can to promote the benefits of cooperation among various trail users - hikers, cyclists and equestrians as well as land managers.  We believe that cooperation has served all of us well in SLO County and that folks from other areas can benefit from the lessons we have learned.

Because we have a reputation for working together, leaders of the cycling and equestrian communities from other parts of the state have asked us to help them organize a very unusual event for the Saturday after the conference.

That event is a joint fun ride/ride/hike at MdO.  It is open to any cyclist, equestrian or hiker who wants to participate and we would love to have a bunch of local folks participating.

Go to www.cccmb.org for all the details.

Please let me know if you plan on participating as we need a head-count for the bar-b-que afterwards.

Thanks
Greg Bettencourt
